SPAAN NOW Verify
Verify a job seeker's document
Scan the QR code on the document, or type the code printed on it. You will see what SPAAN NOW checked, and whether it still holds today.
The code is printed on the SPAAN NOW stamp and on the verification page, next to the QR code. You can also paste the link.
A stamp is not proof
A certified copy
Says a copy looked like the original that was shown on one day. It does not say who issued the original, or whether it is still valid.
A SPAAN NOW verification
Records what our team checked and confirmed, with whom and when, including with the body that issued the document where we can. Anyone with the code can see whether it still holds today, so job seekers do not have to certify the same documents again and again.
How it works
-
Uploaded once
A job seeker uploads an ID, matric certificate, qualification or licence to their SPAAN NOW account.
-
Checked by our team
Our team checks it by hand and, where we can, confirms it with the body that issued it, such as the national matric results system, the school, or the university. We match it to the person, then it gets a code and a QR stamp.
-
Checked by you
When the document reaches you, scan the QR code or type the code here to see the current status.
What you will see
- The type of document and the date it was verified
- The holder's first name and initial
- What was checked, and how
- Whether it is current, expired, replaced or withdrawn
What stays private
- The document itself
- ID, passport and certificate numbers
- Full names, dates of birth and contact details
Questions
Is this the same as a certified copy?
No. A certified copy only says that a copy looked like the original someone was shown on the day. A SPAAN NOW verification is a record of what our team checked and confirmed, when and with whom, and it shows you whether that check still holds today.
Who checks the documents, and how?
Trained SPAAN NOW reviewers check every document by hand, and where we can we confirm it with the body that issued it. For a matric certificate, that can mean checking it on the national results system or phoning the school. For a degree or diploma, we phone or email the university or college. We also match the details to the member's profile. For now this work is done by our team; we are building direct links with these institutions so more of it can be confirmed automatically over time.
Why can a verification expire or be replaced?
Some documents stay true for life, like a degree. Others need checking again, like a licence or a police clearance. When a document is checked again it gets a new code, and the old code says it was replaced.
Can I see the original document here?
No. This page confirms the document, it does not share it. Ask the candidate for the document itself, then use this page to check it.
