About the role
Our client in the automotive industry is looking for a Warehouse and Distribution Manager to join their team in Blackheath, Cape Town. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that warehouse and distribution operations run efficiently and meet both customer and business demands.
You can expect to plan and coordinate the receipt, packing, storage, and dispatch of goods, manage export packing, and maintain accurate inventory through physical counts and system reconciliation. You will also oversee compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures, manage customer service levels, supervise warehouse staff, and control costs against budgets.
This is a hands on management position where you will work closely with a 4PL partner, set security procedures, and ensure that all documentation is accurate and up to date.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Warehouse Management, Distribution, or Logistics (NQF 6). A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
- At least 5 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics within a manufacturing environment.
- Of the 5 years, up to 3 years should be at a supervisory level.
- Computer literacy in MS Office Suite and other relevant warehouse or logistics software.
- Knowledge of warehousing and distribution processes and procedures.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to strategic plans and reviews to achieve operational objectives.
- Ensure an efficient warehouse operation that meets customer demand and operational needs.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor the receipt, packing, storage, and dispatch of goods.
- Oversee efficient and effective export packing.
- Conduct physical inventory counts and reconcile with the automated system.
- Ensure accuracy of all documentation relating to goods out.
- Prepare shipment schedules and work schedules for warehouse employees.
- Optimise warehouse space usage and plan for future capacity needs.
- Ensure hazardous materials are stored according to requirements.
- Set and maintain security procedures to uphold high standards of security.
- Manage the labelling machine effectively.
- Liaise daily with the 4PL partner regarding planning and deliveries.
- Oversee stock receipts onto the system.
- Investigate stock variances and recommend and implement rectification plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and ISO standards.
- Maintain a safe working environment and enforce health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers.
- Represent the company at meetings with stakeholders.
- Report to management on internal stakeholder matters.
- Ensure employees have signed performance agreements and conduct quarterly appraisals.
- Identify staff development needs and implement training plans.
- Address employee relations matters fairly and promptly.
- Contribute to budget preparation and monitor expenditure against budget.
- Identify and implement cost saving initiatives.
