Pro Talent is looking for a hands on Truck Yard Maintenance Assistant in Durban to keep trucks and trailers in good working order. You will do minor mechanical repairs, tyre inspections and preventative maintenance in a busy truck yard. This is a permanent full time role paying up to R17 000 per month, ideal for someone with at least 2 years of mechanical experience who enjoys practical work and solving problems on the spot.
About the role
Pro Talent is hiring a Truck Yard Maintenance Assistant to join a maintenance team in Durban. In this role you will help keep trucks and trailers safe, reliable and ready for the road through minor repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance.
What you will be doing:
- Performing minor mechanical repairs on trucks and trailers
- Assisting with trailer servicing and general maintenance
- Conducting preventative maintenance and tyre inspections
- Identifying mechanical issues and helping with breakdowns
- Keeping vehicles and equipment in a safe and operational condition
- Handling general maintenance duties around the truck yard
- Making sure maintenance tasks are completed on time
Working hours: Monday to Saturday, 08:00 to 17:00. You may need to be flexible for vehicle breakdowns and outstanding maintenance work. Overtime is offered.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant mechanical or maintenance experience
- Basic to intermediate mechanical knowledge
- Experience at a truck dealership, trucking company or similar environment would be an advantage
- Knowledge of trailer maintenance, tyre care and minor repairs
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Mechanically minded, practical and hands on
- Mature, reliable and takes pride in maintaining vehicles and equipment
