About the role
Join a well established commercial vehicle dealership group with multiple service centres across South Africa. Based in Richards Bay, you will become part of a high volume truck workshop that services a range of commercial vehicle brands for fleet operators, logistics companies and owner drivers.
As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing and repairing heavy commercial trucks and vehicles. You will use diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults, conduct preventative maintenance, and carry out engine, drivetrain, braking, suspension and electrical repairs. You may also attend to roadside breakdowns and field service when required.

Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric
- Trade Tested Diesel Mechanic or Diesel Technician Certificate (essential)
- Minimum 5 years experience within a commercial truck workshop or dealership environment
- Strong fault finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience working on heavy commercial vehicles and trucks
- Exposure to leading truck or workshop brands (advantageous)
- Ability to work independently in a busy workshop environment
- Willing to perform breakdown support, overtime and standby duties
- Own basic tool set required
- Valid Code EC or Code 14 drivers licence (advantageous)
- Traceable and contactable references
- Local residency near branch or willingness to relocate
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, servicing and repairs on commercial trucks and heavy vehicles
- Identify mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing on fleet vehicles
- Carry out engine, drivetrain, braking, suspension and electrical repairs
- Attend to roadside breakdowns and field service when required
- Maintain workshop productivity and meet repair time standards
- Ensure all work is completed according to dealership and manufacturer specifications
- Maintain accurate job cards, service records and technical reports
- Support workshop foremen and service advisors in resolving complex mechanical faults
- Maintain safe working practices and workshop housekeeping standards
