Overview

A leading South African digital automotive platform is opening a new branch in Gqeberha and needs a hands-on Trade Centre Manager to run it. You will oversee a small team of about 3 people, manage daily operations, and get involved in vehicle valuations yourself. If you have 3 to 5 years of management experience in the motor, logistics, or dealership space and enjoy a fast-paced, tech-driven environment, this role offers a basic salary of R25,000 to R30,000 per month plus medical aid and pension benefits.

About the role

This is a new branch opening for a well-established digital automotive platform that specialises in independent vehicle valuations, inspections, and remarketing for corporate fleets, insurers, and dealerships across South Africa.

As the Trade Centre Manager in Gqeberha, you will report to the National Trade Centre Manager and take charge of the branch's day-to-day operations and its small team of around 3 employees. Because this is a brand new branch, you will be directly involved in the work, including performing hands-on vehicle valuations to establish correct condition parameters.

Your role will cover three main areas:

  • Operations: Keep the branch running smoothly, manage vehicle receiving and releasing, execute stock takes, and ensure all inspections meet quality standards.
  • Sales and logistics: Oversee vehicle storage and transit delivery, keep vehicle starting ratios high, and handle customer queries quickly.
  • People and compliance: Manage and support your team, maintain health and safety standards, and ensure full compliance with FICA and POPIA regulations.

Application note: Do not contact the recruiters directly. If your CV is shortlisted, a questionnaire will be sent to your email address, so make sure your CV includes a working email address. If you have not received feedback within 2 weeks, please consider your application unsuccessful.

Requirements

  • Matric Certificate or National Senior Certificate (Essential)
  • Business Management or related tertiary qualification (Essential)
  • Valid RSA Driver's License (Essential)
  • Clean criminal record (Essential)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a management role, ideally within a vehicle movement, dealership, or logistics facility
  • Motor industry experience is highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety compliance, FICA, and POPIA
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and the ability to analyse digital dashboards and metrics
  • Excellent written, oral, and active listening skills
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to interpret data dashboards, financial metrics, and operational performance ratios
  • Willingness to be hands-on with daily workflow procedures, including vehicle valuations

Responsibilities

  • Oversee branch personnel and daily operations to ensure excellent internal and external customer service
  • Facilitate all collection requests from the Operations team with clear and proactive feedback
  • Ensure vehicle receiving and releasing protocols are strictly followed by the workforce
  • Execute strict stock take procedures and conduct administrative reporting
  • Maintain rigorous asset and stock management within the Trade Centre
  • Perform hands-on vehicle valuations to establish correct condition parameters
  • Manage and oversee vehicle storage and transit delivery logistics
  • Keep vehicle starting ratios at the highest agreed level to optimise recovery ratios
  • Ensure all vehicle inspections meet required standards and escalate issues immediately
  • Attend to customer queries timeously
  • Manage a team of about 3 staff members, ensuring optimal performance, attendance, and alignment
  • Partner with Human Capital to support people-related areas and ensure staff are well trained
  • Act as the core liaison for internal and external customers with branch-specific queries
  • Investigate and report all incidents of theft, missing stock, or damage immediately
  • Maintain strict Health and Safety compliance within the branch
  • Ensure full compliance with FICA and POPIA regulations at all times

Success Guide

This is a hands-on management role at a brand new branch, so your application should show that you are comfortable leading a small team while also getting your hands dirty with vehicle valuations. The employer clearly values operational discipline and compliance knowledge, so highlight any experience you have with FICA, POPIA, and health and safety in a motor or logistics setting.

Make sure your CV includes a working email address because shortlisted candidates get a questionnaire via email. Also mention your valid driver's license and matric certificate upfront, as these are essential. In an interview, be ready to talk about how you have managed stock, handled vehicle inspections, and kept a team on track in a fast-paced environment. Good luck!
