About the role
Standard Bank is seeking a Technology Lead for AI & ML in their Corporate & Investment Banking division, based in Johannesburg. In this role, you will shape the bank's artificial intelligence strategy and drive the creation of AI and machine learning solutions and projects, with a focus on delivering new AI initiatives.
You'll apply deep domain expertise to help Standard Bank become a business and thought leader in its markets. Day to day, you can expect to advise on and implement engineering standards, methods and procedures across the portfolio. You'll collaborate with Platform Owners to ensure platforms are secure and meet service level objectives for availability, reliability and performance. You'll also set up processes to quality assure all code deployed onto the platform, conduct quality assurance, and approve developed code to ensure applications meet continuous delivery and integration standards.
Part of the role involves developing the engineering team's competency through training, mentoring and coaching, helping team members master their technical skills and acquire adjacent and emergent skills. You'll drive cross-skilling as a strategic initiative with other technology engineering practices, and contribute specialist knowledge of the tech landscape to build a pipeline of expertise.

Requirements
- Master's Degree in Information Technology or a related field
- Deep domain expertise in AI and machine learning, with the ability to drive an AI strategy
- Proven ability to advise on and implement engineering standards, methods and procedures
- Strong knowledge of continuous delivery and continuous integration practices
- Experience collaborating with platform owners to ensure secure, reliable and high-performing platforms
- Ability to quality assure and approve developed code against specifications
- Experience mentoring, coaching and developing technical teams
- Strong specialist knowledge of the technology landscape
