About the role
The University of Zululand is looking for a Technology Enhancement Specialist to join the Teaching and Learning Centre at the KwaDlangezwa Campus. This is a permanent, full time position where you will play a key role in shaping how teaching and learning happen through technology.
What the role involves:
- Supporting academics and training students in the use of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) tools and platforms
- Designing and developing technology enhanced learning activities and resources
- Facilitating training workshops for academic staff and students
- Working closely with academics and other role players to implement TEL
- Conducting research to inform teaching and learning practices
- Performing marketing and other services for the Teaching and Learning Centre
You will need to be comfortable working in a higher education environment, managing learning management systems, and helping others adapt to digital teaching methods.

Requirements
- Honours Degree with a focus on Educational Technology or related field such as Instructional Design, Business Information Systems, Information and Communication Technology, Media Science and Digital Education
- Minimum of three years experience in the higher education sector, particularly in teaching and learning
- Experience and competence in instructional design
- Experience in computer programming in a learning management system (LMS) within a higher education environment
- A Master’s degree in the relevant field would be an added advantage
- Knowledge of Council on Higher Education frameworks and legislation
- Understanding of the higher education teaching and learning environment
- Knowledge of curriculum development
- Basic financial principles
- MS Office Suite proficiency
- Knowledge of extended programmes
- Familiarity with digital media formats, file types, streaming audio and video, and compression methods
- Experience with web based learning management systems in a range of roles (student, lecturer, designer)
- Computer programming in an LMS context
- LMS administration and management
