Capitec

Technical Operations Support Specialist (FTTH) at Capitec Connect

Capitec · Stellenbosch, Western Cape

Full time
Best to apply before 22 Nov 2026 (14 days left)

Overview

Capitec Connect is building its Fibre-to-the-Home operation from the ground up and needs a technical operations specialist with real FTTH experience to help design, run and optimise the service. Based in Stellenbosch, this is a chance to shape monitoring, workflows and vendor management for a major new connectivity offering, not patch someone else's legacy system.

About the role

Capitec Connect, the mobile offering launched in 2022, is expanding into homes through Fibre-to-the-Home. As a Technical Operations Support Specialist, you will join the Operations team to help establish, operate and optimise Capitec Connect's fixed connectivity services.

What the role involves:

  • Helping design and refine operational workflows, and running day to day operational processes for FTTH services.
  • Owning service monitoring, incident management and performance reporting.
  • Managing vendor relationships and holding partners to agreed SLAs.
  • Proactively spotting operational risks and recommending practical solutions.
  • Guiding the business with industry expertise, best practice, benchmarks and a clear view of what good looks like.

This is a greenfield challenge inside a business with real scale. The partner ecosystem is multi-vendor and you will be part of the team that determines how fixed connectivity works here, from monitoring and frameworks to the workflows that keep the service running.

Application note: You will apply on Capitec's official careers site. A clear criminal and credit record is required.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience in technical operations and service management within an FNO environment, with hands-on expertise in FTTH connectivity services.
  • Proven ability to establish, optimise and continuously improve operational processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving complex operational incidents with minimal service disruption.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL principles, SLA and KPI management, vendor management, incident management and operational reporting.
  • Confident in providing guidance and recommendations to senior stakeholders with minimal oversight.
  • Minimum qualification: Diploma in Information Technology.
  • Ideal or preferred: Certification in ITIL or AWS Foundation.
  • Knowledge of business continuity principles, IT systems development processes, quality assurance and governance, and ITIL frameworks.
  • Understanding of monitoring technologies, best practice and toolsets.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, communication skills, decision making, interpersonal and relationship management, planning and coordination, and problem solving.
  • Nice to have: exposure to multi-vendor and multi-partner connectivity environments, hands-on experience across both Fibre Network Operators (FNOs) and Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) networks.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and refinement of operational workflows for FTTH services.
  • Run operational processes for Capitec Connect's fixed connectivity services.
  • Own service monitoring and keep a close eye on service health and availability.
  • Manage incidents from detection through to resolution, minimising service disruption.
  • Produce performance reporting that gives the business a clear view of service delivery.
  • Manage vendor relationships and hold partners to agreed SLAs.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and recommend solutions before they become problems.
  • Provide industry expertise and guidance on best practice and benchmarks to senior stakeholders.
  • Help establish monitoring, frameworks and ways of working from the start of a new operation.

Success Guide

This is a strong fit if you have already worked in fibre network operations and want to help build something new rather than maintain an old system. Before you apply, make sure your CV clearly shows your FTTH experience, the FNO environments you have worked in, and how you have handled incidents, vendors and SLAs. Those details matter more than a long list of generic IT duties.

You will apply through Capitec's careers site, so prepare a clean, up to date CV and your IT diploma or certification documents. If you have ITIL or AWS Foundation certification, mention it. In interviews for a role like this, expect questions about real incidents you have resolved, how you monitor service performance and how you manage partners who are not delivering. Be ready to talk through examples, not just theory.

Take your time with the application. A clear criminal and credit record is a condition of employment, so be aware of that before you start.
