Technical Operations Support Specialist at Capitec Connect
Capitec · Stellenbosch, Western Cape
Overview
Capitec Connect is growing fast and needs a curious, analytical problem solver to join their small technical operations team in Stellenbosch. You'll work one level above first line support, investigating complex incidents that affect millions of clients. If you love digging into why something broke and finding practical solutions, this role offers real impact and room to grow across a range of products.
About the role
Capitec Connect is looking for a Technical Operations Support Specialist to join their close knit team in Stellenbosch. This is not a ticket clearing role. You will be the person who digs deeper when first line support cannot resolve an issue, figuring out why something broke and what to do about it.
What you will be doing:
- Investigating technical incidents across the device order journey, such as orders stuck in a system state or incorrectly cancelled
- Looking into Client Value Management and rewards issues, like clients not receiving data rewards they are entitled to
- Resolving voucher queries where a purchase has not reflected correctly
- Engaging third party vendors to understand why transactions or processes failed
- Spotting recurring problems and suggesting practical fixes
- Supporting operational monitoring over weekends and during releases when needed
- Building your skills across the broader Capitec Connect product range over time
Application note: Capitec asks candidates to first complete a short assessment on their careers site before finalising the application. You will apply on Capitec's official careers portal.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in a technical support role within telecommunications, mobile, fibre, ISP or connectivity environments
- Demonstrated experience investigating and resolving complex or escalated technical incidents beyond basic troubleshooting
- A track record of progression through support roles showing initiative and development
- At least 3 years systems related experience in a fast moving, client focused environment
- Minimum qualification: Diploma in Information Technology
- Ideal qualification: ITIL or AWS Foundation certification
- Solid technical grounding in telecommunications or connectivity products and supporting systems
- Ability to read data, spot anomalies and draw logical conclusions
- Experience with enterprise incident management or ticketing systems
- Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and decision making skills
- Clear criminal and credit record
Responsibilities
- Investigate technical incidents relating to the device order journey and determine whether the cause is technical or operational
- Investigate Client Value Management and rewards related issues to find why failures occurred
- Resolve or escalate voucher related queries where clients have purchased vouchers that did not reflect correctly
- Take ownership of incidents that first line support cannot resolve and work one level above the T1 function
- Engage third party vendors to establish why transactions or technical processes failed, including timing or communication issues
- Identify recurring problems and suggest practical solutions
- Assess the scale and priority of problems, distinguishing systemic issues from quick fixes
- Propose sensible solutions for business or customer problems, even when the fix is operational rather than technical
- Support operational monitoring over weekends and provide incident assistance during out of hours releases
- Develop skills across the broader Capitec Connect product range over time

Success Guide
If you are applying for this role, spend time on your CV showing exactly how you have investigated tricky technical incidents in the past. Capitec wants to see your thought process, not just a list of duties. Mention specific examples where you found the root cause of a problem or worked with a vendor to fix something. Also be ready for a short online assessment before your application is finalised, so set aside time to complete it properly. In an interview, they will likely ask how you tell the difference between a quick fix and a problem that needs a proper systemic solution, so think of real examples. The team is small, so show that you are someone who collaborates easily and takes initiative without being asked. Good luck.
