About the role

Thanda is a non-profit changing community dynamics in rural Mtwalume on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. They run integrated programmes in Early Childhood Development, After-School Child & Youth Development, Organic Farming, and Food Security that impact thousands of people daily. As the Storytelling & Content Lead, you will be the primary field-to-funder engine room, collecting quality photos, videos, and narrative stories from the community, beneficiaries, and staff across all 17 programmes.

Success Guide

When applying for this role, your cover letter should specifically explain why you want to work at Thanda and how your storytelling skills fit the job description. Also mention where you live or your willingness to relocate to the KZN South Coast. They ask for a one-page letter, so keep it focused.

Your CV should highlight any experience with photography, video, interviewing, and writing for NGOs or community projects. If you have examples of published stories, photo essays, or case studies, you can mention them in your cover letter, but do not attach extra documents at this stage.

The interview process will likely assess your ability to connect with people and ask thoughtful follow-up questions. Be ready to talk about how you build trust in rural communities and handle sensitive stories ethically.
