Overview
Standard Bank is looking for a Solutions Architect to shape the technical direction of their Payments and Transaction Banking platforms in Johannesburg. You will define domain architectures, guide project teams, and solve complex business problems using modern technology. This is a senior role for someone with a post graduate IT qualification who enjoys working in Agile environments and influencing technical strategy.
About the role
As a Solutions Architect at Standard Bank, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and maintaining the domain architectures and designs for specific business areas within Payments and Transaction Banking. You will provide high level roadmaps that align to the bank's common technical direction and ensure the accomplishment of these roadmaps.
You will guide architects working on projects within your focus area and provide thought leadership throughout the programme. A key part of your role is to ensure conformance of domain architecture to approved reference architectures, aligning to strategic and target roadmaps, and developing architecture principles for downstream use.
You will work in an Agile environment, striving to reach mature levels on the Continuum model by building your own and your team's competence to work in a continuous delivery environment. In cooperation with the Product Manager, you will align the team to a common technical direction and help them achieve this direction. You will also analyse complex business problems involving multiple applications, platforms, and database interactions, and recommend technology solutions. Articulating solution risks and impacts to stakeholders in Client Solutions, Client Segment, and Domain Architectures will also be part of your responsibilities.

Requirements
- Post Graduate Degree in Information Technology
- Experience as a Solutions Architect or similar role within financial services or technology
- Strong understanding of architecture principles, reference architectures, and roadmaps
- Experience with Agile methodologies and continuous delivery environments
- Ability to analyse complex business problems involving multiple applications and platforms
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Knowledge of payments and transaction banking systems is advantageous
