What you will be doing day to day:

  • Helping clients download and use online banking apps, resolve login issues and buy prepaid airtime or data
  • Processing cash deposits, withdrawals, change requests and inter bank transfers
  • Balancing and loading cash in ATMs and self service devices, and doing first line maintenance

  • 1 to 2 years experience in retail or banking client service, cash handling, technology and first line problem resolution
  • Foreign exchange experience will be an advantage where applicable
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and banking products
  • Problem solving and relationship management skills
  • Understanding of governance, risk and controls
  • FAIS affected role, so you must be comfortable working within financial services regulations

Responsibilities

  • Educate clients on digital banking, online applications and self service devices
  • Assist clients with statements, cards and documentation from self service zones
  • Process cash transactions over the counter including deposits, withdrawals and change requests
  • Prepare and process inter bank transfers and foreign exchange requests
  • Balance, load and maintain ATMs and self service devices to keep them available
  • Control queue flow and prioritise clients with special needs
  • Identify and refer quality sales leads through client conversations
  • Follow risk and compliance procedures to prevent fraud and cash losses
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by keeping clients informed

Success Guide

This is a great foot in the door at one of South Africa's big banks. When you apply, make sure your CV clearly shows any cash handling, client service or tech support experience you have, even if it was at a retail store or in a learnership. The role is customer facing, so in an interview they will likely look for someone who is patient, friendly and comfortable explaining digital banking to people who may not be tech savvy. Brush up on Nedbank's banking app and self service options before you go in, and be ready to talk about how you have handled a difficult customer or solved a problem on the spot. Bring your original ID and qualification certificates to the interview. Good luck!
