About the role
This is a senior leadership role focused on growing and managing a specialist insurance portfolio within a respected financial services group. You will be responsible for the strategic direction, profitability, and overall performance of the portfolio, working closely with product, risk, and commercial teams.
Day to day you can expect to:
- Develop and execute strategies to grow the portfolio and increase market share.
- Oversee underwriting decisions and ensure they align with risk appetite and commercial goals.
- Collaborate with product development teams to refine offerings for the Hospitality or Sectional Title market.
- Manage and mentor a team of underwriting professionals, driving performance and development.
- Build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to support business growth.
- Monitor portfolio performance, analyse trends, and report to senior management.

Requirements
- At least 10 years of specialist experience in insurance underwriting, with a focus on Hospitality or Sectional Title/Body Corporate.
- Proven management experience, leading teams and driving results.
- A relevant business or insurance qualification (such as a degree or diploma in insurance, risk management, or business).
- Strong underwriting, product, risk, and commercial expertise.
- Excellent strategic thinking and leadership abilities.
- Solid understanding of the South African insurance market and regulatory environment.
