About the role
Africonology Solutions needs a technically strong Senior Systems Analyst to join a banking technology project on a 12 month contract in Johannesburg. You will be the bridge between business requirements and technical delivery, helping to shape how applications, interfaces and data flows work together.
What you will be doing:
- Analysing business requirements and assessing how they impact applications, interfaces and data flows
- Producing technical specifications, system models, interface specs and data mappings
- Analysing APIs, integrations and system dependencies to define suitable solutions
- Using SQL to investigate data, validate requirements and troubleshoot system issues
- Collaborating with business analysts, developers, architects and testers throughout delivery
- Supporting system integration testing, UAT, defect resolution and production implementation
- Making sure solutions align with security, architecture and governance requirements
- Keeping clear technical documentation and maintaining traceability between requirements and delivered functionality
Important note: This is an on-site role in Johannesburg for a 12 month contract. Banking or financial services experience is essential.
Requirements
- Proven Systems Analysis experience with a strong technical background
- Experience within banking or financial services is a must
- Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases
- Solid understanding of APIs, web services and integration concepts including REST, SOAP and messaging
- Ability to read and interpret code, application logs and technical documentation
- Experience producing system specifications, UML diagrams, sequence diagrams and data mappings
- Understanding of application architecture, the software development lifecycle and Agile delivery
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills
- A relevant qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent practical experience
- Availability to work on-site in Johannesburg for the 12 month contract
- Advantageous: previous bank experience, background in software development or technical support, exposure to Java, .NET, microservices, cloud platforms or banking integration environments
