Overview
A project engineering company in Witbank is looking for a Senior Structural Draughtsman to lead a drawing office team. You will manage draughtsmen, oversee project drawings, and work with Autodesk software on conveyors, platforms, and structural steel projects. About the role
This is a senior role within a project engineering company based in Witbank. You will lead a team of draughtsmen and make sure project drawings and documentation are delivered on time and to standard. The company works on structural steel projects such as conveyors, walkways, bins, chutes, platforms, staircases, and mezzanine floors.
What the job involves:
- Oversee and manage a team of draughtsmen on engineering projects
- Create detailed technical drawings and schematics using Autodesk software (Advance Steel experience is essential)
- Ensure designs meet engineering standards, client specifications, and South African regulations
- Coordinate with engineers and clients to gather information and clarify project requirements
- Receive new project drawings, file them, and manage drawing revisions and approvals
- Populate and generate bills of materials in Excel
- Deliver and collect engineering drawings from engineers and clients

Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in CAD and mechanical or structural draughting
- Autodesk Advance Steel experience is non negotiable
- Experience with Autodesk Plant 3D and other Autodesk AEC Collection software is advantageous
- National Diploma or Draughting qualification preferred
- Matric
- Proven experience in a drawing office, with a strong background in managing draughtsmen
- Familiarity with South African engineering standards and regulations
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
- Computer literate with advanced Excel skills and MS Projects (beneficial)
- Must have a car and valid driver's license
- Afrikaans home language required
- Non smoker
- Must be based in Mpumalanga or willing to relocate to Witbank
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of draughtsmen to produce project specific drawings
- Oversee drawing office resources and ensure designs meet specifications and client requirements
- Create detailed technical drawings, designs, and schematics using Autodesk software
- Coordinate with engineers and clients to gather information and clarify project requirements
- Receive, file, and manage project engineering drawings and documentation
- Handle project communication including submitting requests for information and drawings for approval
- Do steel detailing individually or as part of a team depending on project size
- Populate and generate bills of materials in Excel for fabrication and client sourcing
- Deliver and collect engineering drawings from engineers and clients
