About the role
As a Multi Discipline Specialist in Java at Nedbank, you will play a key technical leadership role within the Information Technology team. Your main focus will be providing guidance on integrating solutions across various technologies while ensuring compliance with governance and legislation. You will act as a trusted consultant, using your broad IT knowledge to advise on the best use of multiple technologies to meet the bank's needs.
Day to day, you can expect to consult on technology usage, deploy and configure systems, and develop solutions that ensure ongoing availability within SLA requirements. About 30 percent of your time will involve team leadership, while the remaining 70 percent is hands on technical contribution. You will also participate in research and development, present to stakeholders, and work with vendors.
You will be responsible for building and maintaining end to end design, validating individual design components, and ensuring test strategies cover the full design. You will lead end to end design on projects, provide expert guidance during high impact incidents, and help upskill stakeholders by sharing industry trends.

- Professional qualification or Honour's Degree at NQF Level
- Accredited certification where formal expert certification on technology is available
- JMP or MMP or equivalent certification
- Minimum 10 to 15 years experience in an IT environment across infrastructures
- At least 2 years in a senior role from feeder areas
- 8+ years of Java experience
- Banking knowledge and business acumen
- Knowledge of principles of financial management and project management
- Relevant regulatory knowledge and risk management frameworks
- Strong understanding of IT concepts, SDLC, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), IT Solutions Architecture, and IT Infrastructure Architecture
- Knowledge across multiple technologies, multiple operating systems, and IT risk and security principles
- Usability and GUI techniques
- Systems analysis and design skills
- Behavioural competencies: earning trust, communication, collaborating, decision making, initiating action, innovation, and work standards
Responsibilities
- Consult and advise on the use of multiple technologies to address the bank's needs
- Deploy, support, and configure multiple technologies

- Participate in Severities (Sev's) and provide expert guidance on technical problems
