The South African Reserve Bank is looking for two Senior HVAC Artisans to keep the Head Office in Pretoria running smoothly. About the role
This role sits within the South African Reserve Bank's facilities team at their Head Office in Pretoria. As a Senior HVAC Artisan, you will take charge of the planning, inspection and maintenance of all heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems across the building.
You can expect to:
- Run operational, preventative and corrective maintenance programmes for HVAC systems
- Supervise contractors and service providers, making sure work is done on time and within budget
- Help select vendors and put together project contracts
- Make sure all HVAC work meets health, safety and legal requirements
- Manage the performance and development of staff in the HVAC subsection
- Respond to emergencies and keep things running when it matters most

Requirements
- National Trade Test in Refrigeration or Mechanical
- NQF5 or N4 in Refrigeration or an equivalent technical qualification
- Three to five years of experience in a technical trade environment
- Experience in the service maintenance of air conditioning units, including fitment and layout
- Ability to work in a high rise or high tech commercial office building environment
- Experience maintaining electrical equipment and systems
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor operational, preventative and corrective maintenance programmes
- Maintain equipment and replacement programmes, including documenting and keeping inventory of related systems
- Oversee HVAC contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with contracts and budgets
- Assist with vendor selection and the soliciting of bids for HVAC services
- Ensure HVAC design and maintenance meet legislative and health and safety requirements
- Supervise the installation of HVAC systems and specify maintenance and operating procedures
- Negotiate and develop project contracts with external service providers
- Respond to emergency situations and provide assistance as directed
- Commission, organise and assess the work of contractors
- Manage and forecast expenditure using full life cycle costing techniques
- Manage the performance and development of staff in the HVAC subsection
