About the role
DevologyX is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Software Developer to join their technology team in Durbanville. This is a leadership role where you will design, build, and evolve enterprise grade software while helping to shape the company's technology direction.
You will work across the full stack, from frontend interfaces to backend logic and databases, and lead the adoption of AI technologies including Large Language Models and Retrieval Augmented Generation. The role also involves integrating business systems and automating workflows using tools like n8n, Zapier, and REST APIs.
As a technical leader, you will mentor other developers, contribute to engineering standards, and work closely with stakeholders to align software with business goals. If you enjoy solving complex challenges and driving innovation, this could be a great fit.

Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience
- 5 to 10 years of professional software development experience
- Extensive experience delivering production ready full stack web applications
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring developers and contributing to technical direction
- Excellent problem solving, communication, and stakeholder management abilities
- Strong commercial experience with Python for backend development and automation
- Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, React, and modern frontend practices
- Experience with PostgreSQL database design, optimization, and SQL
- RESTful API design and integration
- Containerization using Docker and CI/CD with GitHub Actions
- Workflow automation using n8n, Zapier, webhooks, and API integrations
- Experience with AI technologies such as Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, GPT models, RAG architectures, and prompt engineering will be highly advantageous
- Familiarity with business systems like Zoho One, Zoho CRM, Deluge, Smartsheet, and WhatsApp Business API is beneficial
- Relevant certifications in software development, AI, machine learning, or cloud technologies are advantageous
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and enhancement of enterprise web applications across frontend, backend, and database layers
- Build scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions using modern software engineering principles
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions that support long term growth
- Design, develop, and deploy AI powered applications using Large Language Models and machine learning technologies
- Lead the implementation of Retrieval Augmented Generation architectures and knowledge management solutions
- Integrate AI capabilities into existing applications and operational workflows
- Drive the adoption of AI assisted development practices using tools such as Claude Code, Anthropic Claude, and OpenAI technologies
- Design and maintain integrations between business applications, CRM platforms, and third party services
- Develop workflow automation using n8n, Zapier, webhooks, and REST APIs
- Build scalable integration solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes
- Provide technical leadership across multiple development initiatives
- Mentor developers through code reviews, architecture discussions, and best practice guidance
- Contribute to engineering standards, software architecture, and long term technology planning
- Work closely with business stakeholders to align technical solutions with strategic objectives
- Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and modern deployment practices
- Manage containerised applications using Docker
- Promote secure development practices, code quality, and continuous delivery across the engineering team
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to existing platforms and engineering processes
- Champion innovation through the adoption of AI, automation, and modern software development methodologies
