About the role

As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will take charge of professional accounting, financial reporting, analysis, and financial control. You will work closely with senior management, ensuring accurate reporting and strong financial controls while staying on top of regulatory requirements in a dynamic insurance environment.

Requirements
- Matric Grade 12
- BCom Accounting
- BCom Honours or CTA
- CA(SA) qualification
- Completed articles
- 1 to 2 years experience in a Senior Accountant or Senior Financial Accountant role
- 4 to 6 years accounting experience within the insurance sector
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, Income Tax, and VAT
- Experience with fixed asset accounting
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems
- Proven experience in reconciliations and resolving financial issues
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to work independently and engage confidently with senior management
- Comfortable in a complex, regulated, and dynamic insurance environment
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage financial reporting including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Manage accounting activities such as journals, ledgers, trial balances, and reconciliations
- Support financial management and control within the business
- Provide specialist advice on financial policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and financial requirements
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks
- Provide financial modelling input into business cases, costs, and growth initiatives
- Analyse financial data and prepare management reports
- Investigate discrepancies, resolve issues, and identify errors
- Engage with senior management and internal stakeholders
