A Stellenbosch based company is hiring a Senior Financial Accountant to lead financial reporting, governance and team development. About the role
This is a broad senior accounting role within an international fresh produce environment. You will support and lead key financial accounting, financial control, governance, trade finance and group reporting activities while working closely with internal and external stakeholders. You will also drive efficient ways of working across the finance function through automation, integration and process improvement.
Key areas you will be involved in:
- Supporting accurate and timely month end and group financial reporting
- Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, trial balance and balance sheet reconciliations
- Managing working capital activities across debtors, creditors and cash
- Supporting tax, audit, company secretarial, banking and internal control requirements
- Leading elements of budgeting, financial analysis and cross functional finance initiatives
- Managing foreign exchange requirements and related accounting activities
- Leading weekly grower payments and supporting grower related financial processes
- Leading the end of season fruit pool reconciliation process
- Building strong stakeholder relationships across finance, sales, supply chain and the wider business
- Supporting and developing team members and contributing to a positive, high performing finance team

Requirements
- A bachelor degree in accounting or management accounting
- An Honours degree would be advantageous
- Professional qualification or membership with SAICA or CIMA would be advantageous
- At least 5 years experience in general ledger management, financial reporting and reconciliations
- 3 to 5 years experience in financial planning and analysis, leadership and stakeholder management
- ERP system experience
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial accounting principles
- Experience working with and analysing large data sets
- Foreign exchange transaction experience
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Self driven, analytical, solutions focused and comfortable in a fast paced environment
- Strong relationship building skills, resilience and effective time management
- Commitment to producing high quality work
