About the role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Headcount Personnel Consultants in Pretoria, you will take charge of the electrical engineering department. Your role is to plan, direct, and coordinate professional electrical designs to meet client needs and legal requirements.
Managerial Duties:
- Manage and control the electrical engineering department and all related activities.
- Ensure projects adhere to company quality systems and safety standards.
- Monitor and support the electrical design team, applying best practices.
- Make sure technical projects meet deadlines and are profitable.
- Liaise with other departments to schedule services.
- Plan team development and ensure adherence to procurement requirements.
- Report on project risks and gaps.
Technical Duties:
- Review and sign off detailed designs according to applicable standards.
- Align designs with business strategies and industry best practices.
- Ensure continuous improvement for cost effective implementation.
- Mentor and coach draftspersons and engineers.
- Implement design initiatives after project scoping and tendering.
- Liaise with clients on design specifications and requirements.
- Prepare scope of work, specifications, bill of quantities, and tender documents.
- Compile a detailed data pack for manufacturing and software engineering phases.
- Conduct site audits and generate compliance reports.
- Complete medium voltage and low voltage electrical designs.
- Prepare commissioning procedures and manage commissioning activities.

Requirements
- B.Eng in Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent NQF (preference).
- Alternative qualification: Diploma or B.Tech/M.Tech.
- Pr. Eng or Pr. Tech in Electrical Engineering.
- 10 years or more operational and design experience, including exposure to relevant design programs.
- Knowledge of SANS standards and the MHS Act.
- Technical product knowledge.
- Basic knowledge of PLC and Scada systems.
- Industrial plant design experience.
- Mining design experience.
- MCC design knowledge (SANS).
