About the role
As a Senior Diesel Truck Technician, you will be responsible for keeping commercial vehicles running safely and efficiently. You will work in a workshop environment, performing inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a range of trucks. Your day to day work will involve preparing for jobs, assembling and repairing vehicle components, and conducting both visual and onboard diagnostic checks. You will also need to identify any unusual wear and tear or deviations from normal operation.
You will manage the parts process, document all work completed, and record your working hours. Completing checklists and returning workshop orders to the Workshop Foreman is also part of your routine. This role requires someone who is detail oriented and can follow diagnostic and repair procedures accurately.

Requirements
- Grade 12 or N3 with Science and Mathematics
- Red Seal qualification as a Diesel Technician
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a qualified Diesel Technician working on commercial vehicles
- Experience with Scania and Hino vehicles would be advantageous
- Good communication skills
- Ability to follow diagnostic and repair procedures accurately
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Traceable and contactable references
- Must be a local resident or willing to relocate to Camperdown
Responsibilities
- Conduct work preparation for vehicle maintenance and repairs
- Perform defined assembly and maintenance repairs to commercial vehicles
- Carry out mechanical inspections
- Perform visual inspections and onboard diagnosis during pre diagnosis
- Identify deviations, irregularities and unusual wear and tear
- Administer the parts process
- Document work completed and record working hours
- Complete checklists and return workshop orders to the Workshop Foreman
