A leading multidisciplinary engineering firm in Centurion is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer specialising in structural engineering. You will lead complex projects across ferroalloy, steel, PGM, nuclear, energy, industrial and pulp and paper sectors. This permanent role offers R60k to R80k per month CTC, negotiable based on experience. About the role
Our client, a leading multidisciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Civil Engineering Department in Centurion, Gauteng. This is an office based, permanent full time position where you will specialise in structural engineering and take responsibility for project planning, design and construction management.
You will provide technical leadership across multiple projects, set technical standards, lead complex projects and serve as the primary technical contact for key clients. The role also involves mentoring junior staff and contributing to the engineering team's strategic planning.
Key duties include:
- Leading complex feasibility studies, concept designs and performance based design initiatives
- Preparing structural drawings, specifications and technical reports
- Performing structural analysis and design using hand calculations, finite element analysis and frame modelling
- Managing multiple projects concurrently and overseeing project financials
- Leading site technical teams during critical construction phases
- Establishing and enforcing QA/QC processes
- Providing on the job mentoring and formal training to junior engineers
- Leading technical input on major bids and developing strategic client relationships
Salary: R60 000 to R80 000 per month CTC, negotiable based on experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Valid driver's license
- ECSA Professional registration required
- Eight (8) years or more of relevant structural engineering experience
- Excellent knowledge of engineering principles, practices and codes
- Proven track record leading complex structural projects, multi discipline teams and major client engagements
- Proficiency in Prokon Analysis Software
- Proficiency in Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis
- Proficiency in Idea Statica for Structural Steel Connections
- Proficiency in Autocad for 2D drawing
- Proficiency in Tekla Structures for 3D modelling and fabrication drawings
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit
Responsibilities
- Lead complex and high value feasibility studies, concept designs and performance based design initiatives
- Prepare clear, accurate structural drawings, specifications and technical reports
- Perform structural analysis and design using hand calculations, finite element analysis and frame modelling
- Ensure designs meet local and international codes and standards
- Provide final technical sign off on design deliverables and approve high risk calculations
- Manage multiple projects or large multi discipline projects concurrently as Project Engineer or Technical Lead
- Oversee project financials, risk registers and client escalations
- Coordinate external specialist consultants and third party reviewers
- Lead site technical teams during critical construction phases and dispute resolution
- Establish and enforce QA/QC processes for the structural group
- Lead statutory liaison for complex approvals and act as named responsible engineer
- Keep abreast of advances in materials, construction techniques, codes and software
- Provide on the job mentoring and formal training to junior and mid level engineers
- Lead technical input on major bids and develop strategic client relationships
