TFG is looking for a Senior Buyer to lead the sourcing and selection of trend driven beauty products for their retail brands. You will use your market analysis and negotiation skills to build product ranges that boost sales and profitability while mentoring junior team members. This role offers the chance to travel locally and internationally for buying trips and work with a major South African retail group.
About the role
As a Senior Buyer for TFG Beauty, you will be at the heart of deciding which beauty products land on shelves across the group's retail brands. You will work closely with planners to analyse past sales, spot market trends, and put together a product range that customers actually want to buy.
Your day to day will involve negotiating with suppliers to hit financial targets, building strong relationships across the business, and making sure stock gets sourced on time to bring departmental strategies to life. You will also mentor junior buyers and help drive product efficiency through smart, data backed decisions.
The role comes with opportunities to go on buying trips both locally and internationally, giving you direct exposure to global beauty trends and suppliers. You will need to think big picture while keeping an eye on the details, and you will be part of a team that values collaboration between buying and planning.
Preference will be given but not limited to candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
Requirements
- Diploma, Graduate Degree, or Post Graduate Degree
- 4 or more years of experience as a Buyer (essential)
- Integral understanding of the Beauty retail cycle and buying process
- Excellent planning, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Product development experience
- Strong negotiation skills that deliver results
- Good analytical skills
- Solid understanding of the Quick Response model
- Working knowledge of Excel, Word and email
Responsibilities
- Source and procure a balanced range of beauty merchandise in line with company strategy
- Work with the planner to analyse previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives
- Formulate departmental strategies to maximise sales and secure stock on time to implement them
- Negotiate effectively to deliver financial business KPIs
- Build and maintain good relationships with employees, suppliers and key business functions
- Contribute to growth and profit through innovative ideas
- Go on buying trips locally and internationally
- Deliver a clear product strategy aligned with specific store brand strategies
- Drive product efficiencies and key measures
- Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions
- Mentor junior team members and foster collaboration across buying and planning functions
