TFG is looking for a Senior Buyer to lead the sourcing and selection of trend-driven formal wear for Markham. About the role
As a Senior Buyer for Markham Formal Wear, you will be at the heart of deciding which clothing and accessories make it to our shelves. You will drive the selection and sourcing of trend-driven formal wear that matches our brand strategy and what our customers want.
Your days will involve analysing market trends and previous sales, planning product assortments, and negotiating with suppliers to get the best value and profitability. You will work closely with planners and other teams, and you will also coach and mentor junior team members, helping them grow in their buying careers.

Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as a Buyer for a senior position, or 2+ years for a junior position
- An entrepreneurial, merchant-style of thinking
- A proven track record in buying or a similar related field
- Ability to contribute to growth and profit through innovative ideas
- Good working knowledge of current computer software packages, preferably Excel, Word, and E-mail
- Knowledge and experience of tailoring would be an advantage
- Excellent planning, organisational, and interpersonal skills
- Good analytical skills and high attention to detail
- A passion for and knowledge of trends
- Uncompromising negotiation skills
Responsibilities
- Successfully source and procure a balanced range of merchandise in line with company strategy and customer profile
- Work closely with the planner, analysing previous sales patterns, market trends, forward trend direction, and brand initiatives
- Formulate departmental strategies to maximise sales and timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies
- Negotiate effectively to deliver value and profitability
- Build and maintain good relationships with employees, suppliers, partners, and key functions in the business
- Transfer knowledge through coaching and mentoring junior team members
- Conduct buying trips independently and aligned with forward trend direction and sound category and customer understanding
- Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions
- Communicate effectively at all levels
- Foster collaboration across buying, planning, marketing, and sourcing functions
