A manufacturer of sporting equipment is looking for a Sales Representative based in Durban to sell sports medical products to schools, sports clubs, and medical professionals. If you have a background in anatomy, sports, or B2B sales, this role offers a salary of R25,000 to R35,000 CTC plus commission. You will need your own vehicle and a valid driver's licence.
About the role
Our client, a manufacturer of sporting equipment and sports medical products, is seeking a Sales Representative to join their team in Durban. This is a permanent, full time position focused on growing the company's footprint within the sports and medical sales market.
You will be responsible for managing various customer segments including schools, sports clubs, universities, and uniform shops. The role requires a strong understanding of anatomy, injury mechanisms, and rehabilitation principles to effectively demonstrate and sell the product range. Your goal will be to generate new leads, convert them into long term customers, and increase sales with existing accounts through structured account development plans.
Day to day, you can expect to conduct product demonstrations, provide quotations, plan sales routes, and maintain accurate records. You will report on sales activities and market trends, and must always represent the company professionally. Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) is required.
- Further studies in physiology or anatomy is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Valid driver's licence and own vehicle.
- Experience in one or more of the following: sports equipment sales, school or institutional sales, B2B sales, medical consumables or sports medical supplies, or retail supply to uniform shops or sports retailers.
- Proven ability to build long term customer relationships.
- Strong new business development skills.
- Cold calling and lead generation experience.
- Experience selling to schools, sports organisations, or institutions.
- Excellent communication and demonstration skills.
- Strong planning, organisation, and time management abilities.
- Must be a team player and able to work independently.
Responsibilities
- Generate new sales leads and convert them into long term customers.
- Manage different customer segments using tailored sales approaches.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of anatomy, injury mechanisms, rehabilitation, and recovery principles.
- Explain and demonstrate how products work, their benefits, and correct application.
- Increase sales with existing customers through structured account development plans.
- Convert new business into repeat, planned purchasing behaviour.
- Maintain and develop relationships with potential and existing customers.
- Accurately log all customer interactions, follow ups, and opportunities.
- Conduct in practice and on site product demonstrations and basic staff training.
- Provide quotations and follow through to order closure.
- Provide structured feedback to management on product performance and customer needs.
- Plan and execute weekly and monthly sales routes aligned to territory priorities.
- Monitor competitors and market trends.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports and forecasts.
- Achieve and exceed monthly sales budgets and targets.
- Maintain accurate records, including sales reports and call reports.
- Conduct customer surveys when required.
