About the role
Our client is recruiting learners for a Retail Industry Learnership available across all nine provinces, including KwaZulu Natal. If you are eager to gain valuable skills and start building your career in retail, this opportunity is for you.
As a learner, you will work in a retail environment, learning how to keep shelves stocked with the full range of products, ensure stock is fresh and well presented, and help customers with out of stock queries. You will also learn how to process customer transactions, handle payments and exchanges, and assist with stock control and stocktaking.
You will be trained in customer service, stock loss prevention, and general store housekeeping. This learnership gives you the practical experience and knowledge to succeed in the retail industry.

Requirements
- Must be a South African youth
- Eager to learn and build a career in retail
- No formal experience required, entry level learnership
- Willing to work in a retail store environment
Responsibilities
- Ensure full product ranges are on shelves and neatly presented
- Maintain stock on shelves and check sell by dates
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales
- Follow up on customer out of stock queries
- Store and pack stock correctly in storeroom
- Ensure displays, labels and pricing are correct
- Process purchases and payments including cash, cards and vouchers
- Handle merchandise exchanges and returns
- Process loyalty cards
- Facilitate stock rotation and adhere to stock control procedures
- Report low stock, out of stock, damaged and expired stock
- Assist with stocktaking and counting
- Provide friendly and professional customer service
- Assist with training of new team members
- Prevent stock losses by scanning outgoing items and reporting suspicious behaviour
- Maintain housekeeping according to company standards
- Adhere to health and safety rules and company policies
