About the role
Our client is a leading supplier of electrical and lighting products to the construction, mining and manufacturing sectors across South Africa. They are opening the doors for an experienced Retail Manager to take charge of their Mossel Bay branch and help the store reach new heights.
What the role involves
- Driving sales by sourcing new customer accounts, assessing local market conditions and identifying opportunities to grow the branch.
- Supporting the sales team to hit profit targets and resolving sales related queries quickly.
- Managing branch administration, warehouse and sales staff, including attendance records and absenteeism sign off.
- Keeping stock levels healthy through correct receiving, processing and timely despatch.
- Overseeing daily banking, petty cash, credit notes, journals and reconciliations with accuracy.
- Ensuring health, safety and security regulations are followed at all times.
- Liaising with head office on HR, industrial relations and safety matters and communicating key information to the team.
- Organising training and development where needed and running regular sales meetings.

Requirements
- National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) is required.
- N6 Certificate in Electrical Engineering will be advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in branch management or assistant management.
- Retail experience is advantageous.
- Strong practical knowledge of MS Office packages and K8 system experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of electrical products.
- Own reliable transport and a valid drivers license.
- Good understanding of the local Mossel Bay area will be advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Source new customer accounts and assess local market conditions to identify sales opportunities.
- Encourage and assist the sales team to maintain good customer relationships and achieve profit targets.
- Ensure all sales related queries are addressed and the system is updated with correct pricing.
- Conduct regular sales meetings with the sales team.
- Ensure stock is processed, received and despatched correctly and on time.
- Manage branch administration, sales and warehouse personnel including attendance registers and absenteeism sign off.
- Ensure safety and security regulations are adhered to at all times.
- Organise training and development in the branch when required.
- Liaise with head office on HR, industrial relations and health and safety issues.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of branch operations and communicate relevant head office information to the team.
- Manage commission and overtime claims.
- Inspect and authorise credit notes and ensure journals are complete and correct.
- Control petty cash, ensure daily banking and that transactions are reconciled.
- Assist internal and external auditors where necessary.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure the workspace is kept neat and tidy.
