About the role
As a Registered Nurse in the theatre department, you will play a key role in delivering safe and cost effective patient care. You will be responsible for assessing, planning and supervising nursing care for patients undergoing surgery, ensuring hospital standards are met at all times.
Day to day you can expect to:
- Practice patient care according to your Scope of Practice and take ownership of your work
- Attend shift handovers and communicate clearly with patients about their care
- Contribute to the overall wellbeing of patients and promote health awareness
- Audit health records to ensure compliance
- Control and manage stock, including charging and crediting items appropriately
- Build good relationships with patients, relatives and visitors
Requirements
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
- A qualification in Operating Room Science is advantageous
- At least 2 years of experience in a theatre environment, scrubbing for all major disciplines
- Flexibility to work shifts and varied hours
- Ability to implement and maintain health practice standards required by accredited bodies and legislation
- A customer focused mindset that values the patient
- Full accountability for your own work output
