About the role
Our client, a highly reputable engineering consultancy, delivers world class designs for hyperscale data centres and large scale critical infrastructure projects both locally and internationally. Due to continued project growth, they are seeking a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) to join their team in Johannesburg.
You will be responsible for end to end ICT and ELV design from concept through to detailed design. You will produce designs, specifications, schematics, and bills of quantities, while coordinating with Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire disciplines. The role also involves client liaison, design reviews, and ensuring RCDD compliance across all designs.
Requirements
- RCDD certification is non negotiable
- Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, Information Systems, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in ICT or Telecommunications Infrastructure design within a consulting environment
- Proven Data Centre or ISS experience (hyperscale experience is highly advantageous)
- Sound understanding of BICSI TDMM, TIA-942, and Uptime Institute standards
Responsibilities
- Perform end to end ICT and ELV design from concept to detailed design
- Produce designs, specifications, schematics, and bills of quantities (BOQs)
- Coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire disciplines
- Liaise with clients and participate in design reviews
- Ensure RCDD compliance across all designs
