Polyoak Packaging needs a skilled Property Services Artisan to maintain utilities and property infrastructure at their Pinetown manufacturing site. You will handle planned, preventative and unplanned maintenance to keep equipment reliable and operations safe and compliant.
What you will be doing
- Maintain water, air, solar and electricity utilities
- Look after lighting, lifts, distribution boards, LV rooms, transformers, fire systems and air conditioning
- Collect and analyse utilities data to find ways to improve and cut costs
- Make sure contractors follow SHE requirements on site
- Carry out preventative and planned maintenance
- Run projects through to completion and handover
- Join the asset care strategy and help with engineering problem solving
- Analyse utility breakdowns and drive continuous improvement
- Assist with equipment start up and shutdown
- Be part of standby and callout rosters
- Keep safety and housekeeping standards high

Requirements
- Completed Trade Test as an Electrician or Millwright
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a building services environment
- Mechanical aptitude and strong understanding of services equipment such as transformers, switchgear, compressors, chillers, pumps and solar systems
- Computer literate
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence at various levels
- Ability to assess and prioritise work effectively
- Highly self motivated, energetic and composed, with the ability to motivate others
- Proficiency in English with clear reading, writing and understanding
- Ability to work well in a team
- Strong safety awareness and focus
- Valid drivers licence
- Willingness to participate in standby and work overtime during the month as required
- Wiremans Licence is desirable
Responsibilities
- Review and implement planned and unplanned maintenance for utilities including water, air, solar and electricity
- Maintain property infrastructure such as lighting, lifts, distribution boards, LV rooms, transformers, fire protection systems and air conditioning
- Collect and analyse utilities data to identify improvement and cost reduction opportunities
- Ensure service level agreements meet the required standards
- Ensure contractors comply with relevant SHE requirements on site
- Carry out preventative and planned maintenance effectively
- Execute projects to completion and ensure appropriate handover
- Participate in the asset care strategy
- Ensure engineering standards are correctly applied according to regulations
- Assist plants with engineering and operational problem solving relating to utilities and implement corrective action
- Analyse utility related breakdowns and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce breakdowns
- Assist services teams with equipment start up and shutdown
- Participate in standby and callout rosters
- Adhere to safety procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately
- Maintain proper housekeeping within areas of work and responsibility
