Overview

A global tech firm needs two Project Managers for a one year remote contract. You will lead OS upgrades, server upgrades, decommissioning and firmware projects, working with international teams. This is a great chance to grow your infrastructure project management experience while coordinating real technical delivery from wherever you are based.

About the role

Our client, a global technology firm, is looking for two Project Managers to join their team on a one year contract. These roles offer exposure to new technologies and international markets in a supportive working environment.

You will lead infrastructure upgrade and decommissioning projects, coordinating technical delivery while managing scope, schedules, risks and stakeholder expectations across four main workstreams: operating system upgrades, server upgrades, server decommissioning, and network device firmware upgrades. The technical implementation stays with the assigned technical teams, so your focus is on planning, coordination, change control and reporting.

You will work closely with infrastructure, network, application, security and operations teams as well as vendors and delivery partners. Strong planning, risk management and clear communication are central to the role.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing IT infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to OS upgrades, server upgrades, server decommissioning and network device firmware upgrades
  • Strong project planning, scheduling, risk management, stakeholder engagement and reporting skills
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure dependencies, compatibility assessment, service availability, change control, testing, rollback and operational handover
  • Experience coordinating cross functional technical teams and third party suppliers
  • Clear written and verbal communication with the ability to translate technical issues into business impacts
  • A recognised project management qualification such as PMP or PRINCE2 is advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate OS upgrades including assessment, compatibility checks, testing, rollout and post upgrade validation
  • Manage server upgrade planning, dependencies, implementation windows and service validation
  • Coordinate server decommissioning including dependency checks, migration readiness, shutdown approvals, secure data handling and asset record updates
  • Coordinate network device firmware upgrades including version readiness, change approvals, deployment, rollback preparedness and post change checks
  • Define project scope, objectives, asset coverage, dependencies and acceptance criteria with stakeholders and technical teams
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones and resource requirements
  • Maintain risk, issue, dependency and change logs and escalate blockers promptly
  • Coordinate change control approvals, maintenance windows, outage communications, readiness reviews and tested rollback arrangements
  • Track implementation and testing, resolve post change issues and obtain acceptance from technical and business owners
  • Report progress, milestone performance and risks while maintaining delivery records and coordinating handover and project closure

Success Guide

This is a solid role for a mid level project manager who has worked around IT infrastructure. When you apply, highlight any projects where you coordinated OS rollouts, server upgrades or decommissioning, and show how you kept risks, stakeholders and change control in order. Because it is remote and contract based, mention your availability and how you stay organised across time zones. In interviews, expect questions on managing dependencies, rollback plans and communicating with technical and non technical teams. Keep your CV focused on outcomes and delivery evidence rather than just listing tools.
