Project Engineer: Mining & Underground Projects (Centurion)
Optim-G · Centurion, Gauteng · Hybrid
Overview
Optim-G is hiring two Project Engineers to support major mining and minerals projects from their Centurion office. One role focuses on studies from concept to feasibility, the other on EPCM delivery through construction and commissioning. If you have a BEng or BTech and at least four years of mining engineering experience, including underground work, this is a strong move into a multidisciplinary environment with hybrid flexibility after six months.
About the role
Optim-G is looking for two experienced Project Engineers to join a multidisciplinary engineering team supporting large mining and minerals projects. You will coordinate technical work across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process and EC&I disciplines, keeping deliverables on track and interfaces clear.
Project Engineer – Studies focuses on engineering coordination across mining studies, from concept and scoping through feasibility and detailed study stages.
Project Engineer – EPCM supports projects from detailed engineering through procurement, construction and commissioning, including site support.
Both roles involve planning and monitoring engineering deliverables, managing technical queries and interface registers, coordinating design reviews, supporting procurement and reporting progress to project managers and discipline leads. You will also travel to project sites when needed.

Success Guide
This is a solid opportunity if you are an engineer with a few years of mining experience looking to step into a bigger multidisciplinary project environment. Optim-G wants two people who can coordinate across disciplines and keep technical interfaces tidy.
When you apply, make your CV speak directly to the two role types. If your background leans towards studies and feasibility work, highlight that. If it is more EPCM and site delivery, show it clearly. Mention any underground mining project exposure and the engineering disciplines you have coordinated. A short cover note explaining which role you are targeting will help.
Also list your driver's licence and willingness to travel, since site visits are part of the job. If you are working towards ECSA registration, say so. Interviews will likely probe how you handle multiple disciplines and keep deliverables on schedule, so prepare practical examples from your past projects.
