About the role
As a Procurement Specialist at Komatsu South Africa, you will be based at the Remufacturing department in Germiston. Your main focus will be on strategic sourcing and supplier management within the heavy earth moving equipment sector. You will ensure timely and cost effective acquisition of machinery, parts, and services that support operational excellence.
Key duties include:
- Managing supplier relationships and performance, including contract compliance and service delivery
- Drafting requests for proposals and tender documents, and managing the process from initiation to contract award
- Monitoring and reporting on compliance to procurement policies
- Analysing data and compiling reports on procurement statistics, savings, and continuous improvement
- Collaborating with engineering, operations, and finance teams to forecast demand and align procurement plans
- Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for cost savings and innovation
This role is critical to ensuring Komatsu maintains its operational excellence in the mining and construction environments.
Requirements
- 2 to 3 year Diploma or Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain Management
- 2 to 4 years of supplier management experience
- Experience in strategic supplier management and supplier performance management
- Contract negotiation skills and experience drafting and managing contracts
- Experience drafting Request for Proposal and tender documents
- MS Excel and MS PowerPoint proficiency
- Knowledge of B-BBEE compliance rules and scorecard reporting
- SAP experience beneficial
- Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply certification advantageous
- APICS certification advantageous
- An Engineering qualification will be an advantage
- Experience with Government Purchasing Framework an advantage
- Knowledge of financial, legal, and corporate social responsibility issues
- Knowledge of the Mining and Construction environment advantageous
Responsibilities
- Develop resources to assist internal stakeholders in achieving financial benefits and savings e.g. new procedures, manuals or toolkits
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Manage supplier relationships and performance, including contract compliance and service delivery
- Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and innovation
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to forecast demand and align procurement plans
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and reliability
- Compile reports on procurement statistics, savings and continuous improvement
- Report back on projects, drives and initiatives and provide metrics
- Draft and manage requests for proposals and tender documents from initiation to contract award
- Monitor and report on compliance to procurement policies
