Overview

Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa is looking for a Process Control Technician in Pretoria to keep their automated production lines running smoothly. You will work hands-on with PLC, SCADA, HMI, and MES systems, troubleshoot faults, analyse production data, and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced FMCG manufacturing environment. If you have 3 to 5 years of automation or instrumentation experience and want to grow your career with a global beverage leader, this role is worth a serious look.

About the role

As a Process Control Technician at Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa in Pretoria, you will be the technical go-to person for the plant's automated control systems. Your day to day will involve monitoring and supporting PLC, SCADA, HMI, and MES platforms, diagnosing and resolving control-related faults, and making sure data logging and reporting systems are accurate and reliable.

You will also analyse production data to spot trends and deviations, work with production and quality teams to reduce variability and downtime, and help validate new sensors and process hardware. Documentation is key here, so you will maintain control logic records, follow change control protocols, and support audit readiness in a GMP and food safety environment. You may also get involved in equipment commissioning and project rollouts, including FAT/SAT and performance testing.

Application note: Make sure your application includes your updated CV and your highest qualification. The advert lists minimum requirements, and management may use additional relevant information when shortlisting.

  • Proven experience with SCADA systems such as Wonderware System Platform, HMI, and PLC systems such as Siemens S7
  • Familiarity with process control principles, data logging, and industrial automation troubleshooting
  • Experience in a GMP-regulated or ISO 9001-certified plant is preferred
  • Working knowledge of PLCs from Siemens and Allen-Bradley, as well as SCADA systems
  • Ability to interpret instrumentation signals including analog, digital, 4-20mA, and RTD
  • Understanding of control system architecture, PID loop tuning, and interlocks
  • Knowledge of industrial network communication protocols such as Profibus, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP
  • Basic scripting or configuration skills for SCADA and MES systems
  • Familiarity with SAP PM or equivalent CMMS for reporting and maintenance feedback
  • Sound knowledge of safety, GMP, and food-grade manufacturing standards

  • Collaborate with the C&A Technician to ensure calibration and proper functioning of process instruments
  • Validate integration of new sensors, transmitters, and process hardware with control systems
  • Maintain up to date documentation of control logic, system changes, and process configurations
  • Follow change control protocols and system backup procedures
