A Pretoria based international project engineering consulting company is looking for Primavera Project Planners to work on large scale mining projects in Botswana and Zimbabwe. These are full time on site contract roles of 10 to 12 months, renewable, with travel and accommodation covered. If you have 4 to 6 years of Primavera planning experience in mining or infrastructure, this is a strong opportunity to work on major African projects.
About the role
An international project engineering consulting company based in Pretoria needs experienced Primavera Project Planners to join their team on project based contracts in Botswana and Zimbabwe. You will work on site on large scale mining projects, with contracts running 10 to 12 months and renewable. The client covers travel and on site accommodation, and the roles work on a rotational basis of 6 months on and 2 weeks off.
In this role you will manage and maintain project schedules, work closely with project stakeholders, and ensure reliable progress reporting across assigned projects. You will follow company planning processes, track baseline versus actual progress, and raise early warnings where risks could affect project timelines. You will also assist subcontractors with schedule alignment and integration, and provide weekly schedule updates to internal and external parties.
Note: These positions are full time on site roles in Botswana or Zimbabwe. You must be medically fit to work on mining construction sites. Travel and accommodation are provided by the client.
Requirements
- 4 to 6 plus years of Primavera project planning experience in mining, power plants or infrastructure industries
- Experience planning large construction and feasibility phases of projects
- Primavera P6 and MS Projects knowledge is essential
- Sound understanding of installation projects in mining environments
- For the Botswana position, underground experience is highly recommended
- Related qualification will be advantageous
- Driven can do attitude with a passion for mega project planning
- Process orientated and assertive to ensure complex projects follow established practices and safety requirements
- Able to work under pressure and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
- Attention to detail and accuracy in outputs
- Analytical thinker, energetic and flexible
- Fluent in English
- Medically fit to work on mining construction sites
Responsibilities
- Plan and set up project schedules with input from project stakeholders using Primavera and MS Projects
- Follow project planning processes and company procedures on all assigned projects
- Ensure consistent and reliable progress reporting
- Highlight any deviation within the programme to the Project Manager and assist with practical planning advice
- Implement planning logic with an understanding of interdependencies and knock on effects
- Highlight critical path and resource loading issues
- Track baseline versus actual progress on schedules
- Raise early warnings with possible impacts to the project schedule
- Provide weekly schedule updates and progress reporting to internal and external parties
- Assist subcontractors to align and integrate project schedules and progress reports
