About the role
As a Portfolio Manager for Diversified Investments at Standard Bank, you will be accountable for a portfolio of high value and sophisticated clients. This is a high touch role where client service and overall experience are critical, and you will play a key part in guiding the investment process.
You will foster collaborative and deep relationships with wealth managers and advisors, and drive client portfolio outcomes across Melville Douglas Diversified. Your core focus will be converting investment direction, research views and market signals into multi manager model portfolios, blending manager and implementation decisions that keep portfolios aligned to client objectives and responsive to changing conditions.
You will also generate informed portfolio recommendations, challenge emerging risks and opportunities, and strengthen risk adjusted performance through disciplined analysis, review and execution within a governed framework.

Requirements
- First Degree in Business Commerce, Finance and Accounting, or Actuarial Science
- Post Graduate Degree in Business Commerce, Finance and Accounting, or Actuarial Science
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification
- 8 to 10 years experience constructing and managing multi asset or multi manager portfolios, including asset allocation, manager selection, exposure management and rebalancing decisions within an investment management or asset management environment
- 7 to 8 years experience interpreting research outputs, market data and portfolio analytics to generate recommendations, evaluate scenarios and support portfolio positioning decisions under varying market conditions
- 8 to 10 years experience engaging with investment, research and stakeholder groups to present portfolio rationale, influence decision making and articulate performance, positioning and trade offs in structured forums
- Behavioural competencies: articulating information, challenging ideas, checking things, convincing people, developing expertise
- Technical competencies: active investment management, asset management, data analytics, economic analysis, financial analysis
