Overview
A well established FMCG company in Midrand is looking for a Planning & Inventory Manager with a continuous improvement mindset. You will coordinate production planning, inventory, purchasing and warehouse activities to keep stock moving efficiently and customer orders delivered on time. This role suits someone with a B Degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management and at least 5 years of FMCG experience who enjoys improving processes and working with cross functional teams.
About the role
This is a hands on Planning & Inventory Manager role for a well established FMCG manufacturer in Midrand. You will take ownership of the full planning cycle, from short and long term production plans in SAP through to inventory control and warehouse coordination. The company is looking for someone who does not just keep the wheels turning but actively looks for ways to improve planning systems, reduce waste and keep stock levels healthy.
What you will be doing day to day:
- Building and maintaining production plans in SAP that match customer demand with capacity and inventory targets.
- Tracking plan adherence, ATP% and SKU level MPS%, and reporting performance at production meetings.
- Managing inventory levels to reduce excess, slow moving and obsolete stock while keeping customer service levels high.
- Coordinating purchasing of raw materials, packaging and components so production never runs short.
- Supporting warehouse operations including stock movement, workflow and resource planning.
- Leading continuous improvement projects across planning, inventory, buying and warehouse processes.
- Coaching team members and working closely with departments like Procurement, Finance, QA and R&D.

Requirements
- B Degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management
- APICS or CPIM certification
- Minimum 5 years experience in production, planning, inventory and supply chain roles within the FMCG industry
- Sound understanding of the FMCG company environment
- Experience working with customers
- Exposure to international audit requirements
- Strong SAP planning experience
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to analyze performance data and identify root causes
- Strong cross functional communication and coordination skills
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short and long term production plans in SAP to match demand with capacity and inventory targets
- Communicate the production plan on time and track adherence including ATP% and SKU level MPS%
- Manage inventory levels to meet business needs while reducing slow moving and obsolete stock
- Forecast inventory requirements and contribute to the annual inventory budget
- Coordinate sourcing and purchasing of raw materials, packaging and components in line with production requirements
- Oversee warehouse operations including stock movement, workflows, staffing and storage space
- Prepare KPI reports on service levels, production plan adherence, losses, efficiency and inventory performance
- Coordinate new product introductions and discontinuations to reduce write off risk
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across planning, inventory, purchasing and warehouse processes
- Coach and develop team members in planning and inventory management
