About the role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a qualified Pharmacist to join their Richards Bay store. In this role you will be responsible for dispensing medications safely and accurately while providing pharmaceutical advice to patients and healthcare professionals. You will work within a busy retail pharmacy environment where excellent customer care and attention to detail are essential.
What you will do:
- Accurately interpret scripts and capture details on the system
- Pick, pack, label and check medication with attention to common dosages and drug interactions
- Give patients clear instructions on how to use their medicine
- Assist patients at the dispensary, self medication counter and front shop
- Process medical aid claims and correct rejected scripts
- Ensure authorization for chronic, HIV and AIDS and oncology medication
- Maintain customer profiles and follow up on script tracking
- Report stock levels and assist with bi annual stock takes

Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric
- BPharm or equivalent qualification
- Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
- Minimum 2 to 3 years experience in pharmaceutical
- 2 to 3 years retail pharmacy experience
- Computer literate in MS Office
- English and a second language in read write and speak
- Valid driver license and own reliable transport
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
- Willing and able to work retail hours
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
- Advantageous: relevant retail or FMCG experience, third additional language, SAP experience, e scripting experience, Unisolv experience, registered tutor
Responsibilities
- Dispense medication under direct personal supervision of the Pharmacist
- Interpret scripts and act professionally within legal requirements of the South African Pharmacy Council
- Capture script details and verify patient details on the system
- Ensure accurate picking packing labelling and checking of medication
- Provide accurate instructions to patients on correct use of medicine
- Keep abreast of changes in medical aid procedures
- Advise and assist patients at the dispensary self medication counter and front shop
- Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports and appointments
- Explain medical aid costs to patients
- Process paperwork for accurate submission of claims to medical aids
- Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid
- Ensure authorization of chronic HIV and AIDS and oncology medication
- Maintain customer profiles on the system
- Report on low or out of stock levels and stock errors
- Facilitate bi annual stock takes and exercise stock cash and asset control
