Overview

Senwes Equipment is looking for a Parts Manager to run the spares department at their Oudtshoorn branch. You will manage stock, build relationships with farmers and customers, lead a small team and keep the department financially healthy. This is a permanent mid-level role for someone with at least three years of spare parts experience and a technical understanding of agricultural machinery. It is a great fit if you enjoy hands-on operational work, customer service and being part of a business that supports local producers.

About the role

  • Overseeing department administration, including purchasing programmes, price comparisons and weekly reporting to the Branch Manager.
  • Leading and developing your team by setting objectives, monitoring performance and giving regular feedback.
  • Managing the departmental budget, tracking income and expenditure, and implementing corrective steps where needed.

  • Good understanding of spare parts and product applications.
  • Knowledge of stock management processes, including stock planning, stock turnover and stock-taking.
  • Understanding of purchasing processes, sales margins and basic budget management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage stock levels, seasonal stock planning, purchasing and stock turnover to ensure parts availability and minimise excess or slow-moving stock.
  • Build and maintain customer relationships through effective service, product support, promotions, farmers' days and seasonal marketing activities.
  • Oversee parts department administration, including purchasing programmes, price comparisons, PA report variances and weekly reporting to the Branch Manager.
  • Manage and develop departmental staff by setting performance objectives, monitoring performance, providing feedback and identifying development opportunities.
  • Manage the departmental budget by monitoring expenditure, income and profit margins, identifying variances and implementing corrective measures.

Success Guide

This is a practical, hands-on role that suits someone who knows agricultural machinery and enjoys keeping a parts department running like clockwork. When you apply, highlight your spare parts experience and any supervisory or management duties you have taken on. In an interview, expect questions about how you plan stock for busy farming seasons, how you deal with slow-moving parts and how you keep customers coming back. It helps to show that you understand the local farming community and that you can work with both technical details and people. Make sure your CV clearly shows your matric certificate and your years of parts experience.
