About the role
Join Sasso Consulting as an OT Security Specialist and help safeguard South Africa's industrial control systems and critical infrastructure. You will work at the intersection of cybersecurity and operational technology, protecting environments that keep industries running.
Your daily work will involve implementing security controls across OT and industrial networks, securing SCADA, PLC, DCS, and HMI systems, and designing IT/OT network segmentation with industrial firewalls and secure remote access. You will also conduct risk assessments, manage vulnerabilities, monitor industrial networks for threats, and support incident response efforts.
You will apply standards like IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82, maintain security documentation and asset inventories, and collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and cybersecurity teams.

Requirements
- Relevant degree or diploma in IT, Cybersecurity, Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in OT cybersecurity or industrial control systems security
- Proven hands-on experience securing OT/ICS environments is essential
- Strong knowledge of SCADA, PLC, DCS, HMI, and industrial networking
- Experience with IT/OT segmentation, industrial firewalls, and vulnerability assessments
- Knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, and EtherNet/IP
- Familiarity with IEC 62443 and NIST SP 800-82
- Experience with Claroty, Nozomi Networks, Dragos, or Microsoft Defender for IoT is advantageous
- Relevant OT cybersecurity certifications are advantageous
- Important: General IT security experience without substantial hands-on OT security exposure will not be considered
