You will work closely with the General Manager of Operations, drive business growth, and make sure everything stays compliant. About the role
This is a key role for someone who understands both finance and risk in an agricultural setting. You will report directly to the General Manager of Operations and play a big part in shaping how the business manages credit, risk, and financial policies.
What you will be doing:
- Putting strategic plans into action to grow the business and improve financial services
- Creating and reviewing financial policies that keep costs down while following good governance
- Staying on top of market trends, regulations, and industry changes
- Chairing credit committee meetings and managing credit risk
- Preparing and presenting reports on credit performance to management
- Building relationships with regulators, investors, and other stakeholders
- Finding new business opportunities and growing existing debtor accounts
- Supporting the General Manager with various operational tasks
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 qualification
- A Bachelor's Degree in Finance is compulsory
- Further studies in finance or a related field will be an advantage
- Knowledge of the National Credit Act and regulatory compliance is advantageous
- Fully bilingual in Afrikaans and English, both verbal and written
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in data analysis will be advantageous
- Prior experience in agriculture finance will be advantageous
- Strong computer literacy, especially in MS Office
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Sound knowledge of statistical processes and best practice trends
- Experience presenting statistical data to management teams
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and work processes
- High degree of taking ownership and responsibility
Responsibilities
- Implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives and drive profit for OBARO Financial Services
- Create, maintain, implement, and review financial policies and structures that encourage cost and operational effectiveness
- Keep up to date with market issues, regulations, and policies, and maintain relationships with regulators and industry stakeholders
- Maximise business development opportunities through leveraging networks
- Attend credit committee meetings and act as chairman of the committee
- Identify and manage credit risk
- Prepare reports on credit department performance and present them to management
- Provide support in managing information systems to promote customer service delivery
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Monitor productivity and efficiency levels to improve the credit process and ensure timely handling of applications
- Update and formulate credit policy taking into account a changed environment and legislation
- Grow existing and new debtors within the company's budgetary guidelines and risk profile by identifying opportunities where product ranges can be extended to customers
- Prepare presentations and present them to investors and other external stakeholders
- Support the General Manager with ad hoc tasks
