About the role
Our client is an early-stage company developing healthcare products and digital solutions. They need a Full-Stack Product Engineer to join their growing engineering team and help build products from the ground up. You will be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from frontend and backend development to database design, API integrations, infrastructure and AI-powered functionality.
You will work closely with the technical lead and product, design and business stakeholders to turn complex problems into polished, practical software. Expect a dynamic startup environment that values ownership, continuous learning and rapid delivery.
Key duties include:
- Design and build responsive web apps using Angular, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
- Develop backend services and APIs with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Design and maintain PostgreSQL databases and scalable data models.
- Build API integrations and event-driven workflows.
- Use AI agents and coding tools to improve engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with product, design and business stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of code quality and usability.
This is a hybrid role based in Midrand, Gauteng.
Requirements
- Solid professional experience in software development with the ability to independently deliver production-quality features.
- Strong TypeScript and web development fundamentals.
- Experience with Angular or comparable modern frontend frameworks.
- Proficiency in HTML and CSS, including responsive layouts.
- Backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Working knowledge of API development, integrations and service-oriented architectures.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQL and relational database design.
- Familiarity with automated testing, code review, version control and delivery workflows.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents, or strong motivation to develop AI-native engineering skills.
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated code critically and maintain engineering standards.
- Clear and professional English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Healthcare industry experience is not essential.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain polished, responsive web applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
- Build and enhance backend services and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Design, develop and maintain PostgreSQL databases and efficient data models.
- Develop APIs, third-party integrations and event-driven workflows.
- Translate product concepts and design requirements into intuitive user experiences.
- Contribute to greenfield development while maintaining existing production systems.
- Take ownership of features from concept through implementation, testing, release and refinement.
- Analyse business problems, clarify requirements and evaluate technical trade-offs.
- Apply AI agents, AI-assisted coding tools and automation throughout the development lifecycle.
- Provide context to AI coding agents, review generated code and ensure quality standards.
- Automate repetitive engineering processes and improve development workflows.
- Research, prototype and evaluate emerging technologies.
- Read, understand and troubleshoot unfamiliar codebases.
- Collaborate with technical, product, design and business stakeholders.
- Communicate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop an understanding of the healthcare domain.
- Maintain high standards of code quality, usability and maintainability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
