Sasso Consulting is hiring 5 Microservices Security Specialists in Johannesburg to secure enterprise microservices, APIs, containers and cloud environments. If you have 3 to 5 years of hands on application security or DevSecOps experience and you are strong in Kubernetes, OAuth 2.0 and CI/CD security, this permanent role offers the chance to work on serious cloud native security projects in a growing team.
About the role
Sasso Consulting is expanding its security team and looking for 5 Microservices Security Specialists to join their Johannesburg office on a permanent basis. You will work on protecting enterprise microservices architectures, APIs, containerised applications and cloud native environments for a consultancy that services a range of clients.
On a typical day you can expect to:
- Design and maintain security controls across microservices environments
- Secure RESTful APIs, API gateways and service to service communication
- Manage container and Kubernetes security including access control and vulnerability remediation
- Integrate security testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps workflows
- Run threat modelling, security assessments and vulnerability testing
- Monitor threats, investigate incidents and recommend improvements
- Help the team stay compliant with OWASP, ISO 27001 and NIST standards
This is a hands on technical role for someone who enjoys building security into modern cloud architectures from the ground up, not just reviewing them after the fact.
Requirements
- Relevant degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering or Information Security
- Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience in application security, DevSecOps or cloud native security
- Proven hands on experience securing microservices architectures is essential
- Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes and API security
- Practical knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, OpenID Connect and TLS/mTLS
- Experience with SAST, DAST, vulnerability scanning and CI/CD security
- Knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and OWASP API Security Top 10
- Experience with cloud security platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
- Certifications such as CKS, CKA, CCSP, CISSP, Security+ or cloud security certifications are advantageous
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain security controls across microservices environments

- Implement authentication and authorisation using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT and mTLS
- Manage container and Kubernetes security including access controls, network policies and vulnerability remediation
- Integrate security testing into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes
- Conduct security assessments, threat modelling and vulnerability testing
- Implement security controls across Azure, AWS or Google Cloud environments
- Monitor security threats, investigate incidents and recommend improvements
- Ensure compliance with OWASP, ISO 27001 and NIST security standards
