Dis-Chem is looking for a Merchandiser to join their South Coast store in Margate. This part time, fixed term role is perfect for someone with matric and up to 6 months retail experience who wants to get a foot in the door at South Africa's leading health and wellness retailer. You will keep shelves stocked, displays looking sharp and customers happy while working retail hours.
About the role
As a Merchandiser at Dis-Chem in Margate, you will be the person who makes sure the store looks great and customers find what they need. You will restock shelves, keep products neat and rotated, and make sure everything is priced and labelled correctly. It is hands on work in a busy pharmacy environment where your attention to detail really matters.
You will also help customers with queries, assist with stocktaking, and work closely with the rest of the store team. If you enjoy keeping things organised and providing friendly service, this could be a great fit.

- Grade 12 or Matric certificate
- Up to 6 months of retail experience
- Computer literate in MS Office
- Willing and able to work retail hours
- Strong command of the English language
- Presentable with a professional manner
- Trustworthy and honest
- Good time management skills
- Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes
- Reliable transport or live close to the store
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
- Bilingual and knowledge of merchandising standards would be an advantage
Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales
- Store and pack delivered stock in the correct space timeously
- Check shelves for products past their sell by date
- Keep the full range of products on shelves at all times
- Rotate stock regularly using FIFO (first in first out)
- Report low stock, out of stock, damaged and expired items to management
- Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking
- Follow Dis-Chem's operating standards, store layout and planograms
- Flatten boxes after unpacking and take them to the designated area
- Keep front shop shelves neat, visible, correctly labelled and priced
- Report price discrepancies to management
- Build and maintain merchandising displays
- Assist with loading and offloading stock
- Mark items without barcodes clearly
- Help with back shopping and training of new staff
- Provide friendly and helpful service to all customers
- Follow up on customer out of stock queries
- Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
- Handle merchandise carefully to minimise losses
- Adhere to health and safety rules and company policies
