About the role
As a Merchandiser at Dis-Chem in Ballito, you will be the person who makes sure the store looks great and that customers find what they need. You will restock shelves, keep displays neat and check that products are fresh and correctly priced.
What you will be doing:
- Restocking merchandise to keep shelves full and sales flowing
- Making sure stock is packed in the right place on time
- Checking sell by dates and rotating stock on a FIFO basis
- Reporting low stock, out of stock items, damages and expired products to management
- Helping with stock counts and general stocktaking
- Building and maintaining merchandising displays
- Assisting customers with friendly and helpful service
- Following Dis-Chem's store layout and planograms

Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric is essential
- Up to 6 months of retail experience
- Computer literate in MS Office
- Willing and able to work retail hours
- Strong command of the English language
- Presentable with good time management
- Trustworthy and honest
- Physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes
- Reliable transport or live close to the store
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
- At least 1 year retail experience is advantageous
- Bilingual and knowledge of merchandising standards is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales
- Store and pack delivered or pulled stock in the correct space timeously
- Ensure stock on shelves has not reached sell by date
- Keep the full range of products on the shelves at all times
- Rotate stock regularly using FIFO
- Report low stock, out of stock items, damaged stock and expired stock to management
- Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking
- Adhere to Dis-Chem operating standards, store layout and planograms
- Flatten boxes after unpacking and take them to the designated area
- Keep front shop shelves neatly presented and visible with correct labels and pricing
- Report price discrepancies to management
- Build, face up, stock and maintain merchandising displays
- Maintain daily physical upkeep of store and displays
- Assist with loading and off-loading of stock
- Mark items without barcodes clearly
- Assist with back shopping
- Help train new staff
- Provide friendly, helpful and courteous assistance to customers
- Follow up on out of stock queries from customers using the customer service out of stock list
- Resolve customer stock queries
- Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
- Minimise losses by handling merchandise carefully
- Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs and health and safety rules
