About the role
Join a technical engineering team as a Mechanical Regulatory Engineer in Pretoria East. In this role you will be the go to person for making sure mechanical designs, engineering processes and technical deliverables comply with legislation, industry standards and project specifications.
What you will be doing:
- Coordinating technical interfaces between internal teams, clients, suppliers, manufacturers, contractors and regulatory bodies during the design phase
- Reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation for regulatory compliance
- Translating regulatory requirements into clear engineering design requirements
- Managing technical queries, design clarifications and interface issues between stakeholders
- Facilitating design reviews and interface meetings to resolve discrepancies and ensure alignment
- Monitoring design changes and assessing their impact on compliance, safety and project requirements
- Liaising with authorities and certification bodies where needed
- Maintaining regulatory compliance records, technical registers and design documentation

Requirements
- BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification
- Relevant experience in mechanical engineering design and regulatory compliance
- Proven experience coordinating interfaces between multiple entities or stakeholders during the design phase
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, design processes and technical documentation
- Knowledge of relevant engineering codes, standards and regulatory frameworks
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary engineering or project environment
- Professional registration with ECSA or progress towards registration would be advantageous
- Strong technical and analytical capabilities
- Excellent stakeholder and interface management skills
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and engineering requirements
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Attention to detail and a structured approach to documentation
- Problem solving ability and confidence in resolving technical issues
- Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities

- Ensure mechanical engineering designs comply with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, codes and industry standards
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations and technical documentation for regulatory compliance

- Manage technical queries, design clarifications and interface related issues between project stakeholders
- Facilitate design reviews and interface meetings to resolve technical discrepancies and ensure alignment between all parties
- Monitor design changes and assess their impact on regulatory compliance, safety and project requirements
- Liaise with relevant authorities and certification bodies where required

- Support engineering teams throughout the design lifecycle, from concept development through to detailed design and design approval
