Overview
Corruseal Corrugated KZN needs two trade tested Mechanical Fitters to keep plant machinery running safely and reliably. You will do preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, welding, fabrication and steam plant work on corrugators. This is a permanent, full time role in Prospecton, Durban for someone with a Red Seal and Grade 12 Maths and Science. Packaging industry experience is a plus.
About the role
Corruseal Corrugated KZN is hiring two Mechanical Fitters to ensure the efficient, safe and reliable operation of plant machinery and equipment. You will support continuous production through troubleshooting, repairs, installations and planned maintenance.
What the role involves:
- Carrying out preventive maintenance such as scheduled inspections, routine servicing, overhauls, machine levelling and condition monitoring
- Responding to emergency breakdowns to keep production running
- Doing welding and fabrication, including steam plant work on corrugators
- Performing mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics and steam system repairs and installations
- Using measurement and test equipment accurately
- Keeping maintenance records and paperwork up to date
- Liaising directly with the OEM
- Working standby duties as required
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area
- Working as part of a multi trade team

Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
- Trade tested Mechanical artisan, minimum N3 (Red Seal)
- Three years experience in the printing and packaging industry will be advantageous
- Corrugator or paper mill experience is a plus
- Able to work independently and make decisions
- Proactive, responsible and reliable
- Computer literate
- Able to work under stressful conditions
- Good verbal and written English communication and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance including scheduled inspections and routine servicing of machinery and equipment
- Carry out overhauls, replacements, machine levelling and parallelism setting
- Do condition monitoring and use measurement and test equipment accurately
- Handle steam plant work on corrugators
- Perform welding and fabrication tasks
- Respond to emergency and breakdown maintenance to support plant operations
- Carry out mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics and steam system repairs and installations
- Work standby duties as needed
- Liaise directly with the OEM
- Prepare and maintain accurate maintenance records and paperwork
- Troubleshoot and solve problems to keep production running
- Keep your work area clean and organised and clean up after tasks
- Maintain teamwork with other associates and carry out other duties assigned by supervision
