About the role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Network Engineering in Centurion, you will turn engineering concepts into practical, high quality designs that can be manufactured and used in real world applications. You will work across the full design lifecycle, from initial concept through to detailed drawings and final implementation.
Your day to day work will involve producing 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings, running engineering calculations, and taking part in design reviews. You will also select materials, components, and manufacturing methods that balance functionality, reliability, and cost.
You will collaborate closely with manufacturing, production, project, and engineering teams to make sure designs work in practice. You may also support prototyping, testing, commissioning, and ongoing design improvements, and you will investigate technical problems and implement practical engineering solutions.
Part of your role will include preparing technical documentation, specifications, and engineering reports, while making sure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards.

Success Guide
If you are a young mechanical engineer with a few years of experience, this role at Network Engineering is a solid step up. They are looking for someone who can take a design from idea to a finished, manufacturable product, so when you apply, highlight any projects where you used 3D CAD and FEA software to solve real problems. Be ready to talk about how you work with production teams and how you handle design reviews.
In your CV and cover letter, show that you understand the full design cycle, not just the drawing part. Mention specific materials you have worked with and any experience you have with prototyping or testing. Since this is a recruitment agency, make sure your CV is clear and easy to scan, and include your degree certificate. If you do not hear back within two weeks, do not be discouraged. Keep applying and building your portfolio.
