A well established food manufacturer in Cape Town is looking for a Trade Tested Millwright with strong leadership skills to step into a Maintenance Foreman role. You will lead a maintenance team, keep production running smoothly, and solve mechanical and electrical breakdowns on the factory floor. About the role
This is a hands on Maintenance Foreman role at a food manufacturing plant in Cape Town. You will lead a team of maintenance staff and work closely with production management to keep equipment reliable and downtime to a minimum.
What you will be doing:
- Supervising and developing the maintenance team, making sure everyone knows their responsibilities.
- Planning and coordinating preventative maintenance, repairs and daily maintenance tasks.
- Diagnosing and fixing mechanical and electrical faults on production equipment.
- Responding to breakdowns quickly and dealing with recurring equipment failures.
- Allocating work and monitoring progress to make sure jobs are done safely and properly.
- Working with production managers to prioritise maintenance needs and support production targets.
- Coordinating external contractors and service providers.
- Managing critical spares, maintenance records and job cards.
- Monitoring maintenance spending and supporting cost effective repairs and improvements.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, food safety and housekeeping standards.
- Looking for ways to improve equipment reliability and team performance.

Requirements
- Completed Millwright Trade Test is essential.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant millwright experience.
- At least 5 years in a supervisory or maintenance leadership role.
- Experience in a fast moving food, beverage, packaging or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Strong practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance, fault finding and automated production equipment.
- Experience in preventative maintenance planning and coordinating maintenance teams.
- Proven ability to lead people, manage priorities and perform under production pressure.
- Strong communication, problem solving and organisational skills.
- Must be based in Cape Town.
